James McNames, PhD

Chief Executive Officer
Dr. McNames is a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of APDM. He is responsible for strategic direction, external communications, and funding. Dr. McNames received his PhD in electrical engineering from Stanford. He has appointments in Electrical Engineering and the Systems Science program at Portland State University (PSU) and the departments of Biomedical Engineering and Neurology at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). His background is in statistical signal processing with a focus on medical applications. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers.

Mateo Aboy, PhD, PE, Patent Agent

President & Chief Operating Officer
Dr. Aboy is a co-founder and currently serves as President and Chief Operating Officer. He is responsible for business strategy, operations, financial, intellectual property, and corporate governance. He received his PhD Electrical Engineering from University of Vigo (ETSIT), Exec.Cert. in Management and Leadership from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT Sloan), and MBA education from University of London. He holds appointments in Electrical Engineering at the Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) and Biomedical Engineering at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). Dr. Aboy has a Bar Admission to practice patent law before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a Registered Patent Agent. He has published over 75 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, and is an inventor in over 20 issued and patent pending inventions. His technical background is in digital signal processing. 

Fay Horak, PhD, PT

Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Horak is responsible for partnerships and strategic direction in science, research, and clinical studies. She holds a PhD in Physiology and Biophysics, an MS in neurophysiology, and a BS in Physical Therapy. She has an appointment in the Department of Neurology at OHSU. Her background is in neural control of balance and gait and the effects of neurological disorders on motor control. She has received the prestigious MERIT award from the NIH, a rare Mary McMillan Research Award from the American Physical Therapy Association, and many national and international honorary research awards. She is past-president of the International Society of Posture and Gait Research, and past-editor of Gait and Posture. She has over 100 peer-reviewed publications. 

Andrew Greenberg, MSEE

Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Greenberg is a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer. He is responsible for embedded systems design and manufacturing. He received an MS degree in electrical and computer engineering from Portland State University. He brings over 20 years of experience in embedded systems development.

Lars Holmstrom, PhD

Chief Information Officer
Dr. Holmstrom is responsible for secure data capture, transfer, management, and monitoring. He holds a PhD in Systems Science. His background is in statistical and dynamical modeling of neural systems for sensory processing. He brings over 10 years of experience in data management software architecture and design.
