Which Activity Tracker is the Most Accurate?

 In Health, Continuous Monitoring

A study from University of Sheffield compares the results from 7 commercially available activity monitors to the gold standard APDM Opal. The activity monitors included in the study are the Movemonitor (Mc Roberts), Up (Jawbone), One (Fitbit), ActivPAL (PAL Technologies Ltd.), Nike+ Fuelband (Nike Inc.), Tractivity (Kineteks Corp.) and Sensewear Armband Mini (Bodymedia).

Activity monitors have gained popularity recently as a tool to promote wellness and healthy living. The typical output for activity monitors are steps/day, but some can detect postural transitions and bouts of activity. The researchers in this study sought to determine which commercially available activity tracker is best in class during different activities. They chose our Opal as the system to measure their raw data against. Good choice!
